Time: 11:00am – 1:30pm

Celebrating its 23rd year, Empty Bowls has increasingly gained generous community support to feed the hungry. All proceeds go to Grand Valley Catholic Outreach’s Soup Kitchen. Last year, 66,978 meals were prepared and served to individuals in need, and the number continues to increase each year. On any given day, about 250 to 300 individuals, families, and children will come for the noon-day meal. Tickets are $25.00 and are available at the door, at The Daily Sentinel, or online at https://970tix.com/events/23rd-annual-empty-bowls-luncheon. Each ticket buys soup, bread, beverage, dessert, and a handmade pottery bowl of the attendee’s choice. Soup is free for children under 12 when accompanied by a parent with ticket. Empty Bowls is sponsored by Friends of Outreach, a group of individuals of all faiths who come together each year to create this event.

Cindi Graves, Regional Development Director, asked if we can send this out to the JSL membership because she thought we might know some ladies who would be great!

They have a program for 5th grade girls transitioning into middle school to provide them with some tools and advice to deal with bullying, relationships, drugs/alcohol and more. We need some female volunteers to help cover all the schools we want to do. It only takes two hours a week for five weeks. So, depending on the volunteer’s schedule, they could do every Tuesday after school for 5 weeks or another day that works. They work in pairs and we have a full curriculum to use. It’s easy and impactful.

If you have anyone, would you mind sending them to Allison Ellington (coordinating the program) [email protected] or 970-628-8004. They could sure use some help. They had a few of our volunteers have babies and we are a bit light.

Thank you for your consideration.
