Past Grant Recipients

Every December the Junior Service League of Grand Junction has their annual ceremony to distribute the funds they raised through the sale of their cookbooks and through their biggest annual fundraiser, Viva el Vino, a wine-tasting event.  On average they distribute over $40,000 in funding to multiple Mesa County non-profit organizations. You can view one of the slideshows below to see grant recipients from 2011 and 2013 and a list of the 2013 grant recipients follows.

ARVDHeart for Hope – a Colorado nonprofit corporation – Funding to train our teachers and coaches in CPR/AED

Community Food Bank – Provide emergency food boxes to Mesa County individuals and families

Desert Edge Therapy – Equestrian center for children with autism and special needs.  Provide two surcingles for added safety of the riders and staff.

District 51 Foundation – Fund e-books for 3rd-5th grade school children in District 51

Fruita Thrift Shop’s Imagination Library – Provides free books mailed to children’s homes

Grand Junction Imagination Library – Provides free books mailed to children’s homes

Grand Valley Catholic Outreach – Funding to support a new diaper program.  GVCO will purchase needed diapers for families in the community

Hilltop Community Resources, Inc. – Parenting education and support program that serves at-risk families with young children age birth to five

HopeWest (Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado) – Summer Camp for children grades 3-9 who have experienced the loss of a loved one

Kids Aid – Funding to provide food for children that often go without when not in school

Marillac Clinic, Inc. – Provide no-cost health care to our homeless ages 13-65.  Ease the burden of utilizing expensive ER services that impact all in the community

Riverside Educational Center – Support grades 3-9 in the Lego League.  Riverside  provides enrichment services to students

St. Mary’s Foster Grandparent Program – Support for low income adults with supplemental income to tutor and mentor at risk students in the class room

Western Colorado Center for the Arts dba The Art Center – The Art Ability program.  The program provides a hands-on, non-judgmental, facilitated environment where underserved populations in Mesa County can improve their quality of life as well as that of their families by creating art.
 
Western Slope Center for Children – Funding for free counseling services to child victims of sexual/physical abuse
